Rooms with a View (RWAV) reached out to me in 2021 to redesign their website, and oversee and revitalize their social media + marketing efforts .
2021 would prove to be a pivotal year for the event. After putting the show on hold for a couple of years due to Covid they decided to revamp and upgrade their business model.
Rooms with a View, New England's leading annual design event, has been a showcase for international, national and regional talent since its inception nearly 30 years ago. The event was the brainchild of late Albert Hadley - named by Architectural Digest as the Dean of American Design – as an effort to raise money for local charities.
His formula is still used today. Each year twelve well-known designers are invited to create a room (vignette) that is set within a pre-built space that measures 6’ X 8’ X 8’. During this event the library and Great Hall of the historic stone Gothic Revival, Southport Congregational Church are magically transformed to educate, inspire and awe.
Over the years some of the most celebrated interior designers have participated. They include – to name just a few - Bunny Williams, Thom Filicia, Victoria Hagen, Jeffrey Bilhuber, Jamie Drake, Charlotte Barnes, Charlotte Moss, and Alexa Hampton. The event also serves as a great introduction to talented new and emerging designers. When Architectural Digest compiles its annual list of the top 100 designers, it routinely includes designers about a dozen that have participated in Rooms with View.
New last year (2021) RWAV elevated the show to include an art exhibit curated by Adrienne Conzelman of ARC Fine Art.
Over the course of the four days there will are four major events:
The Opening Party on Thursday Night celebrates the beginning of the show and is open to all. A Night at the Hadley is a Design Industry Networking event on Friday Night. A guest Lecture Series featuring leaders in their fields will take place during the day on Friday. On Saturday there will be multi-author book signing event.
For full show details and the list of this year's designers please visit their website
Over the past 27 years Rooms with a View has generated $2 million dollars that has supported 18 local charities including Emerge, Bridgeport Rescue Mission, Homes for the Brave, Horizons, and St George's Soup Kitchen.
